Together, we carefully crafted the CRM software to support Recovery Colleges and Training Providers manage their mental health recovery services better.
The Oxfordshire Recovery College became the first adopters of MRN, and they loved it then – and they still do! The massive impact it has made to the way in which the Recovery College manages from its enquiries to its outcome assessment has been clear:
“ it’s clear that it’s been integral to our ability to grow the college!”
Oxfordshire Recovery College
By the end of October 2016, other Recovery Colleges reached out to us as a result of ImROC talking about MRN and since then, another three onboarded – Central and North West London NHS Trust, Sussex Partnerships and South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
This got us thinking about how many more Recovery Colleges there are in the UK. Everyone we spoke with had a feeling of “around 40-50.”
We searched for a single database of UK Recovery Colleges but we found that this didn’t exist- and so we decided to fill the gap!
We have completed thorough desk-based research to capture web address, contact details, EOI forms to download, EOI forms to complete online and Prospectuses – and made them available to all. We wanted to fill the gap and ensure that a complete list of the 70+ Recovery Colleges in the UK is made available to all. Here it is! https://mindrecoverynet.org.uk/providers
We haven’t stopped there. We know that healthcare systems across the globe often take inspiration from the UK and particularly from the NHS.
We have now started looking further afield, and found another 40+ Mental Health Training Providers operating in countries such as Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, France, Ireland, Netherlands and Italy.
We’re all set to publishing our global list towards the end of 2017!

Project Abstract
Project title: Mind Recovery Net
Challenge addressed: Helping mental health recovery training and support providers to better manage their activities.
Brief summary: Mindrecoverynet.org.uk is an Intelligent CRM software for the Mental Health support and training providers in the UK. It is a customer relationship management (CRM) software crafted to help Mental Health Recovery Colleges and training providers manage their applications, students, courses, tutors, course schedule, venues, bookings, attendance and impact and outcome assessment.
This software-as-a-service platform is available to organisations that deliver mental health recovery support and training to subscribe to, to reduce the overall cost of ownership of software that help them become more efficient, and provide a better service to those with mental health needs, their carers, friends and families and professionals who work in the sector.
A key feature of Mental Health Recovery Colleges is that Tutors that are experts by experience work in co-partnership with professional tutors. We have recently improved the platform to give all Tutors a login to a “Tutor Corner” – allowing tutors and the service provider to work better together as they develop and delivery short courses that have a lasting impact on those that attend.
As organisations subscribe to use the software they also join the community that helps steer the next phases of development, helping shape where we go next with the platform.

Patients in Birmingham and Solihull will be among the first to benefit from a major new drive to modernise how the NHS delivers mental health care.
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust will be leading the way in NHS innovation as part of a pioneering “Test Bed” with partners including WMAHSN, Accenture, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Joint Commissioning Team, Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Police.
Mind Recovery Net is looking forward to seeing how the programme develops and getting involved in supporting outcomes such as

- Support relatives and carers
- Provide patients in Birmingham and Solihull with access to digital tools such as improved online support, risk assessments and crisis intervention plans that will enable care professionals to better support patients to manage their conditions in the community
- Design and deliver training to partner organisations, patients and their carers to assist them in identifying the early warning signs of a mental health crisis.
Information about the RAIDPlus Integrated Mental Health Urgent Care Test Bed programme can be found on their website.

Here at Mind Recovery Net, we have been looking for a front door to our platform for students.
We have given Mental Health Recovery Colleges and training providers their own login to manage their provision. All the Mind Recovery Net features you see on this site are available to them.
We have also given Tutors their own login as well, through Tutor Corner, and you can take a look at the features of Tutor Corner here.
What we haven’t got is a front door for students.
Having listened to the launch of Digital Health London we have found Big White Wall, and it looks good!
If you have any good apps or systems that you use to help students express themselves, and make that first steps to engage with Mental Health Recovery Colleges and other mental health training providers then let us know. We would love to hear from you!
You can contact us here.

In case you missed it, here is the great video on the launch on Digital Health London.
Tara Donnelly speaking at the launch said “Bring the transformation that we have all seen in our daily lives into London’s NHS”
Mind Recovery Net would encourage anyone who is looking to innovate within the NHS and healthcare sector to engage with the Health Innovation Network and any other Academic Health Science Networks across the country.
[su_vimeo url=”https://vimeo.com/155407446″]Here is a useful map of them on the AHSN Network website.
Take a look at who they are here.

1. We wanted to make a difference in a way that we could.
2. We believe that if those that provide mental health support could do so more efficiently, then they would be able to support more people.
3. We like showing organisations the power of good technology, and helping them through the process to become more confident.
4. The team here have years of experience of training administration, delivery and management – so we know the pain of lots of paper!
5. Technology, like noting else, can bring people together face-to-face far sooner than they would without it.

Today we are going to tell you the story of how online forms and enquiry management became. Why? Well, billions of forms are submitted online every single day – making online forms the quickest, easiest and most natural way to collect users.
This is a true story and any resemblance with your past and present are indeed a shared reality.
After responding to a few open and closed questions, selecting from dropdown lists or a group of multiple choice options, at the click of a button you can share a strong opinion or even order yourself a credit card. Online purchases big and small, national polls, company surveys, event RSVP’s, attendance registrations, magazine subscriptions and job applications are various examples of online forms – of which you have experienced some, if not all.
But it wasn’t always this easy…
Behind the ease of todays’ advanced technology are decades of development. Before capturing responses and enquires hit the World Wide Web, the traditional love of paper and stacks of ring binders on our shelves dominated.
And that caused cluttered bookshelves
As clever businesses grew, enquiries increased and responses doubled, the need for robust statistical analysis steered us in the direction of Microsoft Excel.
And then that got expensive
The world of spreadsheets meant costs also increased because recruitment was necessary for accurate and timely data entry. As these businesses continued to expand massively, we dared the age of HTML and started using simple web-pages to partly replace our pen and paper methods.
And then that stopped looking pretty
Of course, advancements continued and fancy UI’s (user interfaces) came to the fore. Some of us spent on tidying up our websites, while others took to paying a little more for Generic CRM’s like Salesforce.
And then that felt too rigid
Because of the known struggle with off the shelf CRM’s that were far too general to suit all faces of every business, the likes of Google Forms were born. But with the recent demise of the neat Adobe Forms extension, businesses have recognised that there is no going back.
And then the need for bespoke was born
The era of pen and paper, spreadsheets and HTML is well and truly over. We’ve navigated to the roads of bespoke, flexibility and customisation. The need to build or find fully tailored CRM’s has never been greater.
And finally, Mind Recovery Net was born
Find out why we built Mind Recovery Net here.
